Effect of Sintering Mechanisms on the Mechanical Behaviour of SiC and Kaoline Reinforced Hybrid Aluminium Metal Matrix Composite Fabricated through Powder Metallurgy Technique

Present work focusses on the fabrication of Al-10% SiC-4% Kaoline HMMC by using conventional sintering, Microwave- assisted sintering (MAS) and Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) techniques. Tensile, Compression hardness tests were performed as per ASTM standards to study effect mechanisms fabricated specimens. Results reveal that an enhancement 13.3% in U.T.S 11.7% strength was observed Sintered when compared sintered composite specimens because lesser temperature, time absence intermetallic compounds process. The formation Al2Cu compound identified XRD pattern conventionally sample due high temperature which leads inadequate mechanical properties. fractured surface tensile reveals presence cleavages confirms brittle fracture, existence dimples Microwave samples signify ductile mode failure samples. Out three techniques, exhibits superior properties porosity levels.
